CODDENHAM OPEN GARDENS AND SCARECROWS 2019

Sunday 23rd June from 11.00 am to 4.30pm

I am pleased to report that everything is coming together for this event.  Please make a note in your diaries and keep fingers crossed for good weather.

We have 15 Gardens open including our beautiful Churchyard and the Allotments.  Thank you to everyone who has agreed to open their garden as I know a lot of hard work goes into the preparation.

We will soon be delivering information to Coddenham residents with regards to entering the Scarecrow competition.

We have a few new events this year such as the Mini scarecrow I spy trail, which I am looking forward to and plant sales from Katies Garden.   There will of course be the lovely array of cakes donated by our wonderful bakers available in the Village Hall along with tea and coffee, and this year we have an ice cream van attending.  We are also excited to try the Street Style Hot Food that will be available outside the hall.

There is to be a Garden Shop at Haysel House, so we would be grateful for donations of unwanted garden items.  These can be taken to Haysel House on Saturday 22nd June between 2 – 5 pm or contact Eleanor on 01449 761885.

Finally, I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who is working so hard to make this a wonderful event for the village.

CODDENHAM OPEN GARDENS AND SCARECROWS

Sunday 23rd June from 11.00 am to 4.30pm

23rd June is the day our beautiful village opens many of its fantastic gardens to visitors to raise funds for good causes.

The posters are going up, the leaflets have been delivered to let everyone know about this great event.  We always hope for good weather but whatever the weather the gardens will be open, and the children are catered for with a fun mini-scarecrow I-spy trail so bring them along with you.

Once again the wonderful Roy Hudd will be judging the Scarecrow competition and if your family fancy building your own scarecrow and joining in the fun there is still time to enter just contact Coddenham.scarecrow@btinternet.com  and let’s get as many scarecrows throughout the village as we can.

The Village Hall will be a hub of activity both inside and out.   Katies Garden are supporting us and will be selling lots of great plants and shrubs.

Teas, coffees and snacks, street style hot food by e8 food company and Peters ice-cream all available so no need to get hungry and The Coddenham Country Club are also joining in the fun and will be open from 11 a.m. as well so check out their scarecrow on your way in and take in their special exhibition marking 100 years of Coddenham Country Club.

We are still asking for donations of unwanted garden items for the Garden Shop which can be taken to Haysel House on Saturday 22nd June between 2 – 5 pm or contact Eleanor on 01449 761885.

Now all you Great British Bakers out there we would be grateful for donations of cakes on the day to the Village Hall so I hope to see lots of people carrying cakes down School Road.

All profits will be divided between St Mary’s Church, Coddenham and The Stone Foundation, a new local charity set up to provide Housing and Tenancy support for vulnerable people.

Finally a big thank you to everyone working so hard to make this a wonderful day for the village.
